Rising Damp

When the paint starts flaking and bubbling on the lower section of wall, your skirting boards expand and salt starts seeping through the plaster, it is time to call  The Assured Handyman to fix your rising damp problem! Water wicks up from the ground and through deteriorated or non existent damp courses to saturate the bricks causing mould and damage to the plaster and paint on the wall. We can treat the cause in an almost non-evasive way by drilling a series of holes in the bottom of the walls and injecting a special liquid or in some cases we can apply a chemical which soaks in and hunts the water hardening on contact with moisture to form a new damp course. Attic ladder installation

Getting the most out of your roof space as far as storage goes really makes sense but without easy access it can be more problematic than beneficial. Installing a set of attic stairs is a great way to improve access to the space in your ceiling. The opening is cut out with a plasterboard saw and extra bracing can be added up in the roof if needed, just remember to double check for any electrical cables or water pipes before starting to cut. cutting out the opening And as always... measure twice, cut once!
